- 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
- ¼ cup (60ml) fresh orange juice
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add in the egg, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion out the dough. Roll into balls and place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Optionally, flatten each ball slightly with your palm.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve as-is or dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
Notes
For extra flavor, use fresh orange zest and juice. You can add 1 cup of chocolate chips for a fun variation. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
