Description
Baklava bites are delightful, bite-sized treats made with flaky phyllo dough, a sweet and spiced nut filling, and drenched in syrup — perfect for sharing at any occasion.

- 1 package phyllo dough (thawed if frozen)
- 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 cup pistachios or almonds, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar (for syrup)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Optional: 1/4 cup honey (for syrup)
- Optional: cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla or orange extract
- Optional: dried fruits like raisins or cranberries
Instructions
- Thaw phyllo dough in the refrigerator if frozen. Unroll gently on a clean surface and keep covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying.
- Cut phyllo into 3×3 inch squares for bite-sized pieces.
- Finely chop nuts and mix with granulated sugar and cinnamon. Add optional spices or dried fruits if desired.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter. Layer 4–5 sheets of phyllo, brushing butter between each layer.
- Sprinkle nut filling over the layered phyllo. Add another phyllo layer, brushing with butter. Repeat until filling is used, finishing with 4–5 phyllo layers on top.
- Cut assembled baklava into small squares or diamonds before baking.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in honey after removing from heat if using.
- Once baklava is baked, drizzle warm syrup evenly over each piece.
- Allow bites to cool completely before serving. Let them sit for better flavor absorption.
Notes
Keep phyllo dough covered while working. Use enough butter between layers to ensure crispiness. Always cut before baking for even cooking. Store in an airtight container once cooled, or freeze for up to 3 months.
